Meet Trav Robertson

Trav Robertson’s story begins in a home built on service. He and his two sisters were raised by a public school teacher and a clinical psychologist who spent their lives caring for South Carolina families. Norman and Gladys Robertson taught their children that hard work is a responsibility, compassion is a duty, and every generation must leave the world better than they found it. They taught Trav how to stretch a family budget, how to protect what you earn, and how to stand up for people who depend on you.

Anderson, South Carolina, shaped him. Trav grew up in classrooms and cafeterias at Whitehall and Calhoun Elementary, McCants Middle, and T. L. Hanna High School. He learned early that community is not an idea — it is people showing up for one another. It is Friday night football, school events, neighbors who know your name, and families who look out for each other when times get hard.

Trav carried those lessons with him to the University of South Carolina, where he became a proud Gamecock for life. He brings the same passion he has for basketball, football, and baseball to the work of public service. His dog Jack is never far from his side, a reminder of home and loyalty wherever the road takes him.

For more than 30 years, Trav has devoted his professional life to helping leaders improve the lives of South Carolinians. He has been trusted to safeguard finances for organizations and individuals, and he has worked alongside people who believe in solving problems and delivering results. Trav has partnered with leaders at every level of government, gaining a deep understanding of how public institutions work and how they can work better for the people they serve.

After college, Trav was invited by longtime State Treasurer Grady L. Patterson Jr. to join his staff. He served as a liaison to the General Assembly, state agencies, and the public, eventually becoming a Deputy State Treasurer. Those years gave him a rare, firsthand understanding of the Treasurer’s Office and the responsibility that comes with protecting taxpayer dollars.

Trav’s values have never changed. He believes South Carolina deserves financial stability, integrity, and accountability. He believes families cannot plan for their future unless the state manages its money with professionalism and care. And he believes that every dollar entrusted to the government belongs to the people who earned it.

Trav is running because he knows what is possible when South Carolina’s finances are managed with honesty and discipline. He knows what it means to serve. And he knows that the future of this state depends on leaders who put people first.
